  1. I found the resolution was 0.5 deg F at 212 deg F, not 0.1 deg as I recalled reading in the specifications. The boiling point of water measured 213 deg F and not 212 deg F. The display was easy to read. It cannot remain in a hot oven.

  3. How wonderful I was invited to review this item. I tried it YESTERDAY for the first time. Doesn’t work. Won’t even turn on. Battery? who knows but I hesitate to invest in a battery since I am already out the cost of the item. I plan to check with amazon to see if they will make this right.

  4. I purchased this unit due to the many recommendations AND because the Taylor Product website claimed that these were being manufactured in the USA. The Taylor production had moved to China years ago. Our family has boycotted all Chinese made products for more than 10 years. I would have sought out an alternative if the product’s country of origin had been accurately described by either Amazon or by Taylor. The negative review is not a reflection of poor performance or problems with the unit.

  5. I think the design and description of this item is flawed. Why would someone buy a thermometer that handles up to 450 degrees fahrenheit? The answer is simple… because they are trying to measure something that is very hot. This “commercial” grade product is made with non-heat resistant rubber and plastic and it melted in a standard 250ml beaker in less than 1 minute of boiling time with the housing several inches and off to the side of the exhaust. The packaging should be improved so as to not deceive the customer.
