16 Digital Photography Tips for Christmas

It’s just a few days until Christmas so I thought a quick tutorial on the topic of Christmas Photography might be appropriate. Hopefully this will give you some good Christmas photo ideas.

Here are 16 Christmas Photography tips and ideas to try that come to mind for digital camera owners wanting to capture the big day:

1. Prepare – Making a List, checking it twice….

Making sure you’re ready to capture any planned event is part of the key to a successful shoot. Getting yourself ready but also the location of your shots is worthwhile.

Pack the camera – goes without saying? I forgot mine last year in the rush to get the car packed. Make sure your batteries are charged and you have extras and/or the recharger packed. Pack extra memory cards – have them empty and ready to fill up Put someone on ‘photos’ – our family has someone on drinks, main course, dessert – why not put someone on ‘photos’ so that in the craziness of the day they don’t get forgotten. Consider the light in the room that you’ll be photographing in. Is there enough light? Will you need a flash? Are the backgrounds too cluttered and distracting? 2. A White Balance Christmas

Here in Australia we often celebrate Christmas outdoors, but many people around the world do it inside in unnatural lighting. Pay attention to what type of light you’re shooting in and set your white balance settings accordingly. Alternatively, if you’ve got a camera that shoots in RAW you can shoot away and set your white balance later.

3. Set up a DIY ‘Photo Booth’ The shots were great – people went back to it throughout the party and the photos got crazier and crazier as time went on. It was the hit of the party. 4. Capture the preparation stages Photo by paper by design

The actual Christmas meal or party is obviously the best part of the day, but there are other photographic opportunities, particularly in the preparations stages of the day.

Food preparation Putting up decorations Wrapping gifts Kids throwing a tantrum while getting dressed in their Christmas outfits Setting the table

The shots before the event starts properly are often great because they show everything at it’s best before everyone descends on your party zone.

5. Before and After Shots

Speaking of shots before the party starts, why not set up some before and after shots both of the place you’re holding your party and what it looks like afterwards. Make sure you take the shots from the same position.

6. Time-lapse Christmas series

I have one friend who set up his computer with a web cam in the corner of the room with the camera looking down on the Christmas table. He set the camera to go off every 5 minutes over the day and ended up with one of the most wonderful series of shots that I’ve seen for a long time.

Photo by rachel r 7. Christmas Lights

Photographing Christmas lights is something that can be tricky to do. David Hobby from Strobist has put together a great tutorial on how to do it. Check it out at How to Photograph Christmas Lights.

8. Find a Point of Interest – but just per shot

All good shots should have a focal point that holds the attention of those viewing your images. The problem with Christmas is that there can often be too many competing focal points in shots with people, color, decorations, food in every shot. Work hard and de-cluttering your images. Check out this post on minimalism which contains some tips on de-cluttering images.

9. Fresh Group Photos

One of the most common types of shots at Christmas is the ‘group photo’. It’s usually taken at the end of the evening or day when everyone is looking at their worst. For a ‘fresher’ shot take it once everyone has arrived. Also think before hand about how you might pose everyone and where you might take the shot. I’ve posted 12 tips for taking a great group photo previously.

10. Opening Gifts – Shoot in Continuous Mode

There are certain moments during a Christmas gathering that are filled with all manner of photographic opportunities and the opening of gifts is like no other in that it is filled with an array of emotions, facial expressions and excitement – especially if you’ve got kids around. Switch your camera to burst mode (sometimes called continuous shooting mode) and take lots of shots at this time of the festivities. You’ll find you end up with some excellent series of shots when you do this that capture everything from the anticipation of getting the wrapped gift, through to the excitement of unwrapping to the joy (or occasionally disappointment) of seeing what’s inside. Don’t forget to shoot the reactions of those who GIVE the gift as well.

Photo by grace*c* 11. Fill your Frame

One of the most common mistakes I see in Christmas photos (or any party/even photography) is that people often end up with shots of their subjects off in the distance on the other side of a room with lots of space around them. Fill your frame with your subject either by using your zoom or getting up and moving yourself closer. While this is one of the simplest tips I ever give it is one that can have the most profound impact on your shots.

12. Diffuse/Reflect Your Flash

- Another common problem with Christmas shots is ending up with shots where the flash is so bright that subjects look like rabbits in a spotlight with harsh shadows behind them. One way around this is to use some sort of a flash diffuser or reflector. If you’re lucky enough to have an external flash try bouncing it off walls or the ceiling. Another way to reduce the impact of your flash and to create some interesting effects is to switch your camera into ‘night mode’ (slow sync mode). This will tell your camera to choose a slower shutter speed but still fire your flash. In doing so it’ll capture some of the ambient light of the room as well as freeze your subject. Be warned, you can end up with some wacky shots doing this (but they can also be lots of fun).

13. Go Macro

Most digital cameras come with a macro mode and an increasing number of DPS readers are buying macro lenses so flick to that mode, attach your lens and photograph the smaller things around your party. Ornaments on the tree, table decorations, sweets in the bowl on the table, a nativity scene on the mantle piece, holly above the doorway – sometimes it’s these small things around your party that are the real ‘money shots’. Don’t forget our Macro Hacks for compact cameras.

Photo by Splat Worldwide 14. Watch Your Aperture

I quite often shoot in Aperture Priority mode on a day like Christmas and am constantly changing the aperture depending upon my subject. For example when taking shots of a Christmas decoration on the tree I’ll select a large aperture (a small number like f/2.8) so as to throw the background out of focus, but on a shot taken from the end of the table of everyone sitting down eating I’ll choose a small aperture (like f/8 to f/11 or more) so as to have a larger depth of field and keep everyone in focus.

15. Explore Your Neighborhood

If your neighborhood is anything like mine there is an almost unlimited number of photographic opportunities presenting themselves all around you. Christmas carols services, houses covered in Christmas decorations, shopping malls filled with busyness etc. Get out there with your camera and capture it. What a wonderful time of year to practice using your camera. Have fun!

Photography Basics Of Understanding Pentax Digital Camera Settings

The Optio E70 digital camera was recently launched by Pentax, who have produced a powerful 10 megapixel digital camera with a great new simplified interface, as there are now bigger visible size buttons to make things a lot more easy. A new introduction is the 'Green' shooting mode, giving the digital camera direct control over the key shooting settings.

Now this digital camera is just ideal for digital newbies as it offers features like the triple anti-shake protection, the 7 shooting modes, and Super- Fast Face Detection.

The Pentax Optio E70 is ideal for a frequent digital camera user as it runs on normal AA alkaline batteries, preferably rechargeable ones. The camera also looks really stylish with a flush face and nothing protruding from the lens, and it isn't big and bulky either.

So just why is the Optio E70 digital camera such an ideal camera for newbie digital photographers? Wee the list in long, but what most impressed me were the large visible icons presented on the LCD monitor and the simple way of setting your modes and functions. The operational status is no longer a complicated issue and you will soon be hooked to your Optio E70 digital camera, which will produce some of the best digital images you would have ever seen.

There are so many new functions to assist in the production of quality images. For amazing still images the Pixel Track SR model is an extra bonus, correcting shaky blurred photos through the Pentax new exclusive software that performs real time digital editing.

Outdoor photographers often find difficulties for producing quality images when there are poor lighting conditions. The High-Sensitivity SR mode has been introduced to give still photography a new meaning, because this camera automatically increases its sensitivity to an awesome ISO 6400, permitting a higher shutter speed setting.

Now let's take a closer look at the real quality of Optimum images which is backed up by an outrageous 10 megapixels making the Optio E70 digital camera a pioneer in an emerging digital camera era. Master the Digital Infrared Photography Using Your Digital Slr Nikon

Nikon D70 SLR ideally suits Digital Infrared Photography because of the power that its settings deliver. Next I will show you the camera settings that I use in taking digital infrared photos, thus helping you to get best results out of the Nikon digital SLR. Firstly, you should get a tripod, which is necessary for taking perfect infrared photos, and then choose an infrared filter that you desire - I personally prefer Hoya R72. Then, spend a little time in planning the digital infrared photograph. This will help to eliminate some uncertainties that digital infrared photography brings, that can result in just a photo which is OK, instead of a WOW!! photo. Just like always, there isnt a right way in achieving the results. However, these steps brought me the most success, using the D70 until now.

Type of image: I prefer shooting in RAW mode for the digital infrared photography. Even though Nikons native format NEF is very versatile, it don't stand up to the quality that RAW mode gives, so any imperfections can just be edited using software like Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro.

ISO: Very Good results could be achieved when increasing ISO settings, however, the best results I got were with ISO 200. Otherwise, noise is too great that is my opinion at least. Also, I do a good amount of post processing using Photoshop, so the noise becomes a problem while working at high magnifications. Keep in mind that, unlike the infrared film, where graininess is an important part for the feel and look of the image, the digital infrared noise or "grain" really degrades the image. However, if you need to add an effect of grainy film, you should do this using Photoshop, or using other package.

White Balance: From my experience, setting custom white balance represents a key in GOOD Digital Infrared Photography using Nikon d70. Using a filter which blocks most of the "regular" light, then the camera's inner white balancing mechanism cant give you an accurate measurement for colour temperature of the environment. Because foliage reflects the IR light, by making it the brightest, the whitest part from your photo, in this case you will need to "calibrate" the D70 in order to let him know visible light green equals infrared white. A couple of ways exists for doing this.

First: The simplest method for white balance is opening the menu of the D70, then to use the control button to get to the setting for white balance, and then change this to +3 fluorescent. Because in infrared photography, most likely you will be shooting under bright sunlight using a "red" filter, if you add some false color correction, this gives your IR image more "punch." Also, I have found that the incandescent setting also works.

Second: Other way to adjust the white balance for your digital infrared photography using Nikon D70 is by taking a photo to green grass in full sun at midday. But, try and photograph only the grass - no trees, no feet, no sky. Simply point the camera towards the grass by looking at it straight down, then click! After this, in the menu, you will set white balance using this photo. Hence, go to the menu, and select the white balance, then preset then use photo then select image and then use the control dial for navigating at the image with the grass. The menu should say now "this image > set." And now you are ready for shooting infrared!

Photography – Understanding Memory Cards

Even more confusing than the process of deciding which model of digital camera to buy is the process of selecting a memory card for your camera. This is compounded by the fact that often your first digital camera will not come bundled with a memory card, and you will need to purchase it separately.

Important characteristics for a memory card, beyond whether or not it is compatible with a given digital camera model, are the file storage capacity (generally measured in gigabytes), and the file transfer rate (the higher the better). As an example of the numbers involved, a 6 megapixel resolution camera can store about 320 high resolution JPEG images on a 1GB memory card. A 2GB memory card would hold 640 images, and so on. But note that if you store images in the camera's RAW image format as well, your memory card will accept a significantly smaller number. This is why high-capacity memory cards are favored when you can afford them.

The wide variety of memory card types and makers reflects the relative immaturity of the field of digital photography. The different companies are still battling for market dominance, and no standard has yet been established for memory cards.

However, there are presently two main types of memory card that seem to stand above the others. These two types are known as Compact Flash (or CF) and Secure Digital (SD). For the remainder of this article I shall restrict my discussion to these two card types. Most digital cameras will support only one memory card type, though the very high end digital SLR models, like the Canon EOS-1Ds Mark III and the Nikon D3 support both CF and SD memory cards for maximum flexibility.

Compact Flash, which is currently the most popular memory card type for digital cameras (due to its historically superior capacity and reliability), was introduced by SanDisk in the mid nineties, so it has been around for a while. All the major digital camera brands employ CF memory cards on at least some, if not most, of their models. SanDisk produces memory cards that can hold up to 8 GB in file size.

For people who need to reel off a great number of shots in order to get the one or two great ones (sports photographers come to mind here), the high capacity cards are extremely convenient. Transfer rates are specified in term of the incremental "1x" rate of 150 KB/s. A "12x" card would therefore be capable of a maximum file transfer rate of 1800 KB/s. CF memory cards come in one physical size only, though with two possible thicknesses, designated as Type I and Type II, with the second being the thicker. A Type II memory card will not fit into a Type I slot, so be sure to get the correct Type when selecting CF memory cards.

Because CF memory cards are relatively large (1.43 inches by 1.68 inches) they are less likely to be found in use with smaller point-and-shoot digital camera models. Instead, their physical size makes them more suitable to the digital SLR models.

The Secure Digital memory card name derives from the fact that it was originally introduced as a means to securely store music files. The idea was that music files would be copyright protected and limited access would be permitted to files stored on SD disks. But the concept was short-lived when the security protocol was cracked not long after its introduction. Because of the tight association with the music industry, slots that accept SD cards also accept other devices like Bluetooth antenna, PDAs, mobile phones, and so on.

SD memory cards are used by all the top digital camera brands, including Casio, Canon, Nikon, Pentax, Kodak, Panasonic, and Konica Minolta.

Like CF memory cards, the SD card transfer rate is measured in the same units of 150 KB/s. Due to the smaller physical size of the SD memory card (1.26 inches by 0.94 inches) the maximum file storage capacity has historically been a great deal lower than for CF cards. Typically around 1 GB. However, SD has now targeted the high capacity market, and to do so it has had to shift to a new file format. Unfortunately this was done without a corresponding change in physical dimensions of the card, which has meant that older cards are often inserted into newer SD card slots that cannot read them, and vice versa, causing some confusion to consumers.

Once you have a memory card that is full of images, you are going to want to transfer the files to your computer, where you might process them with a software application like Photoshop, or you might send them on to someone else for the editing. One common way to transfer images from your memory card is to use a card reader. This is a small device, roughly of ipod size, which contains one or more memory card slots at one end, and a cable at the other end which connects to the USB port of your computer. In this way, your card reader simply becomes another port from which to read data onto your hard drive.

If your digital camera does not ship with a card reader, it almost certainly is accompanied by a cable which can be used to connect the USB port of your PC to the camera. In this way, your camera doubles as the card reader device that you might otherwise have used to read the memory card.

Other devices, such as photo printers, are likely to have memory card slots built right into them, so that they can accept a memory card directly. Some devices are even capable of receiving a WiFi signal sent from a camera so that files can be transferred "over the air".

No matter what the model of your digital camera may be, it is always a great idea to first consult the user manual to see what your options are regarding memory cards. Never make the assumption that one memory card is likely to work for your camera simply because a sister model, or immediate predecessor model, uses the same memory card. It is likely the case, but it pays to find out before you order new cards.

You can also visit the SanDisk site and check memory card / camera model compatibility. SanDisk lists all the major camera manufacturers and for most current camera models, gives the SanDisk cards that can be used with them.

Development of Digital Photography

The era of Digital Photography commenced when two scientists ( George Smith and Willard Boyle) invented the device called 'Charged Coupled Device' (CCD) in 1969. Since then the CCD has been widely used in the production of modern digital cameras. It is the heart of all digital cameras and now called the image sensor. These two scientist, never thought that CCD will be extensively used in digital cameras, that time they invented the CCD to develop the first solid-state video camera (in 1970) which could give sharp images which was enough to be used in television broadcast (1975).the two scientists didn't plan it this way.

1.Introduction of First Digital Camera - Mavica

Since the above invention world had to wait around five years to see breakthrough in digital photography. In year 1981, world renown Sony Corporation introduced the first prototype digital camera which was called Mavica (Magnetic Video Camera). This new camera called Mavica was an electronically operated still camera with two CCD chips, It recorded images using magnetic impulses on to a compact two-inch diameter still-video floppy disk. However the first digital cameras for mass market were available in mid nineties.

It could be hooked to a computer through a serial port cable. For example, the cameras which came out with such facilities were Apple Quick Take 100 camera (February 17, 1994) worked with a home computer via a serial cable. The other similar digital models were introduced to the market by Kodak (DC40 camera in March 28, 1995), Casio ( Casio QV-11with LCD monitor in late 1995), and Sony ( Cyber-Shot Digicam in 1996).

2. Digital Image Software and Printers

Although there were several manufacturers came out with different types of digital cameras, none was so popular as Kodaks DC40 digital camera which produced for mass markets. Later Microsoft and Kinkos both collaborated with Kodak to introduce the digital image-producing software workstations and corner shops. The consumers were able to use these software and corner outlets to develop photo CDs and photographs as well as adding digital images to the documents. Similarly, IBM worked with Kodak introducing the internet-based network image exchange. At the same time, Hewlett-Packard was the pioneering company to make the first color inkjet printers that helped consumers to print good quality images which was an impetus to the popularizing the digital photography.

3.True Digital Camera

In 1988, Fuji developed the true digital camera, DS-1P which could record images in the form of computerized file. Other unique feature of this camera was its internal memory chip with a capacity of 16 MB while using a battering to store. However, it was noted that this Fuji camera never marketed in the United States or not even in Japan. As such, we can reasonably assume that the first commercially produced digital camera was Logitech Fotoman (in 1990) which was also called as Dycam Model-1. This camera used a CCD sensor which stored images digitally and later cold be transferred to Personal Computer (PC).

The background or evolvement of digital photography stress that that the future is the digital photography. This is already proven as the recent market surveys indicate that in year 2006, approximately 35 billion images were printed or stored in Western Europe.

A Glimpse Of Underwater Photography

Are you a diver? Have you ever thought of showing what you see underwater to your friends? How does underwater photography work anyway?

It was said that underwater photography started around 1800 when William Thompson took an underwater photograph with a camera mounted on a pole. But it was not until 1957 that underwater photography started to bloom when the first waterproof camera was invented.

As good as a waterproof camera may sound, underwater photographers nowadays generally use a casing to protect their camera so that they don't need to have two cameras for land and underwater. Furthermore, these casings are usually made of plastic so they are light in weight and your wallet.

And to make underwater photography more enjoyable, compact digital camera manufacturers nowadays are looking into the possibility of water resistant camera. Very soon, you will see cameras that have stronger water resistant capability and good for diving even without any casing.

The next underwater photography equipment you will need is an underwater flash unit.
This is because as you dive deeper, you will start to see the loss of color in your surrounding hence the blue green color you often see underwater. A lobster will look dull and dark brown because the red and orange colors are absorbed by the water. So, an external light source is important to restore your subject's color so that it will look more alive and real. One of the reasons for underwater photography is to amaze the viewer of the marvelous underwater world and you can't do that with a boring picture.

Then, do you know that underwater photography is more than just about marine life? You can take pictures of the amazing cave system and some divers even become experts in underwater landscape photography. Who says landscape photography is only limited on land?

A very important tip about underwater photography is that you will want to learn to be good in diving before you take up this hobby. Not just that your diving skill will affect the quality of your pictures, your safety is also dependent on your diving technique. After all, you are the stranger in the sea and if you look at this from the marine's eye, you are invading their territories and they have all the right to attack you.

The last underwater photography tip for you is that you will want to get as close to your subject as possible. This is again caused by the fact that water will absorb light and make your subject loss its true color. That is why you need to be a good diver so that you can stay calm when you are approaching your subjects without provoking them.

A Short Introduction to Photography and Some Things to Consider When Purchasing a Digital Camera

Photography is the art of taking photographs of objects or people, which are then processed into an image by placing special chemicals onto photosensitive paper resulting in a photograph or an image to be captured on paper.

Some people enjoy photography as a hobby while others make their living from it. Many photographers use both traditional film cameras and digital cameras and some still tend to process their own images. What they like to photograph is a matter of individual interest since some people enjoy taking pictures of nature, while others prefer portraits of people, pets, still life and so on.

The Camera Is The Most Important Consideration

Among the best ultra zoom cameras in the market are the Panasonic Lumix cameras. Equipped with a superb lens, they take high quality pictures with accurate colors and exposure. There is no problem with purple fringing, (AKA ghosting), like other ultra zoom cameras.

Ah yes, and the perfect accessory for any camera is a photo light box, which is a controlled lighting environment. With their uniform lighting environments, anyone can come up with professional looking color accurate photos without shadows to upload on websites, online auctions or catalogs.

Many photo opportunities only last for seconds, if your digital camera is too busy writing the last shot you took to the memory card you might miss the next shot. So make sure the camera you choose has a fast recovery time.

What If You Delete A File

And what if you delete an image file by mistake from your digital camera's flash card? Flash file recovery can recover any previously deleted image file. This is an application that every photographer should be aware of. It can also salvage pictures from damaged or corrupted flash drives (including camera's built-in memory) and memory sticks. While camera or storage media failure is a rather rare event, compact flash memory cards (CF for short) are slim, lightweight easy to change out when full.

Great photos need great frames

Many people frame pictures and use them as a great gift idea. We get different types and styles in picture frame moldings.

Before cutting any stock, photo matting should be done because it helps you get an estimate about the size of the completed frame. Most photography or frame shops sell pre-cut photo matting, but you can save money using your own mat cutting system. This is particularly relevant when you are making frames for a lot of family and friends on a regular basis.

Medical Photography

Photographic recording plays an important role in medicine, especially photographic documentation for endoscopy. Photographic or video recording of diagnostic procedures is better than memory or drawing. Moreover, it is a legal safeguard as well as material for research and teaching.

Digital camera prices have fallen so much in the last couple years pretty much anyone can now get into photography. One of the latest trends has been the merging of cell phones and digital cameras, the size of image is still pretty small but technology is advancing and within a couple years I think we may be quite surprised at what our little phones will be capable of.

Underwater Photography – Having Fun Clicking Pictures Underwater

Underwater photography is extremely interesting and lots of fun. People do not usually get to take pictures of the wildlife living underwater. There are a number of living thing underwater. There are those that move around like the fish and the sharks, and there are those that are immobile like the corals. Because of the number of subjects available underwater, underwater photography has become one of the most popular forms of photography.

There are a number of digital cameras that can be used underwater. The internet is full of pictures that deal with the underwater. This is largely due to the fact that people can now take cameras underwater and shoot the subjects there.

But it isn't as easy as it sounds. You cannot just take a camera, dive into the sea, and start clicking. You need to know where and how to take the pictures. There are a number of underwater pictures that are horrible beyond measure as one cannot make out anything in it. Sunlight has a different effect underwater and one needs to make sure that photos are not taken directly under a sunray.

If taken in the right manner, underwater pictures can be truly beautiful. There is a set of paraphernalia you need to carry with you while going underwater. These include different cameras, lights and camera holders.

The ocean is the best place to take underwater pictures. Ponds and lakes are, more often than not, too dirty and murky with mud to allow you to see anything clearly. On the other hand, the ocean is very clear, and taking underwater pictures is relatively easier due to the absence of the pollution.

When diving, there are certain differently designed cameras that you should opt for. These cameras take amazing photographs as the pictures are hundreds of feet underwater where it is usually difficult to take pictures. Very often, the images show strange creatures that have not yet been discovered.

Apart from the aquatic life forms, it is also enjoyable to take photographs of people underwater. If you can capture the right moment, you can catch people making some really funny underwater expressions. People on vacation usually take pictures of each other underwater. There are a number of people who visit Florida and take pictures with the manatees swimming by. Underwater pictures taken by oneself is a great family keepsake and an amazing way to share your experiences with friends and relatives.

Underwater photography is made even more interesting due to the unpredictable nature of water. A lot of unexpected pictures come out due to this. These pictures are rare and so are really special, as one cannot recreate the environment in which caused the photograph to turn out the way it did. With advancement in camera technology, underwater photography will keep progressing. Today, one can even take underwater pictures from boat. Digital Photography Tips – 3 Underwater Photography Tips

Photography has always been a fascinating subject to many people. Nowadays, you don't just see pictures taken on land. You can also see pictures taken from space, air and underwater. So, for those divers who have the interest, underwater photography has become another perfect reason for them to do more diving.

Here are some tips for you if you are interested in this new hobby.

1. The equipments

As you already know, most cameras nowadays are not water resistant. Even some of the digital cameras that were designed to be water resistant, they can only be submerged underwater for the maximum of 2-3 meters.

So, when you want to practice underwater photography, you will want to get a casing to protect your camera. This kind of casing is just a transparent plastic with rubber to house your digital camera. As long as you fit your camera nicely in the plastic case, you can still access its function from the outside.

There is one thing you need to remember before you jump into water is the capacity of your memory card. Imagine that you are happily taking picture of the unique underwater life and suddenly your memory card is full. You certainly can't change your memory card like you are on land and you can only do that at the surface. But by the time you get back to the same spot, your subject might be long gone. There is nothing more frustrating to a photographer than to miss the perfect shot and it is even more frustrating when it is cause by a small mistake like this.

2. Closing in

It is said that the things you see underwater is 3 times larger when they are on land. This is because water distorts (refract or bend) light.

So, when you are taking pictures underwater, you will want to get as close as possible to your subject. Another tip for you to keep in mind is that you need to be careful when you are photographing marine life in close proximity.

Even though some of them might look still, your flash and distant might provoke them and cause them to attack. The last thing you will want to get with underwater photography is to get hurt by your subject. So, keep yourself safe by minimizing your flash and use your zoom lenses whenever is possible.

3. Research

You are supposed to know where you are diving, right? So, research about the underwater marine life before you go there so that you will know what you are going to see. You can also assess how dangerous your subjects will be so that you can be prepared for them.

And for you to enjoy your diving and photography trip to the fullest, you can also look for any experience guide who can dive with you. When you are diving with them, there is a high chance for you to take some astonishing underwater pictures.

Images can be stored in form of digital images by using term like Pixels, pixel stands for digital expression of the images and are made from zeroes to one.

Similar to any other conventional camera, digital cameras are equipped with number of lenses that focuses on light and creates pictures you would like to capture. In fact the process of capturing light in digital camera makes a lot of difference as this is achieved with the help of special sensors instead of a film. Upgraded versions of digital cameras give users another unique system called the charged couple device also called as CCD. This helps in transferring light in electrical signals. Low end or old model of cameras images use CMOS device and is often in direct competition with CCD of high end digital cameras.

Everyone certainly knows about the price reduction in some models of digital camera, making them extremely affordable to everyone. The major reason for this reduction is the CMOS device for image capture. You can look at high end models with great functionality that can give you some great pictures you could flaunt among your friends, some of the function are listed below:

Additional card for storage will be required as cameras with higher resolution usually require excess space for storing images. If you love nature or a professional photographer, you might need a storage card larger than the normal if you don’t intend to fall short of space after taking some hundred shots. A 1GB card would be sufficient
There won’t be a need for a high end specification bulky digital camera if you are an occasional photographer. However professional photographers can require it but not an amateur. We could only discuss few essential tips in this article but they can certainly help you in making the right choice. Along with its portability, versatility and off course technology, digital cameras are here to stay and next generation in photography.

Digital Photography Tutorial Reveals Digital Camera Pricing Tips

It is hard to imagine that it was only a few years ago where we had to wait for days in order to have camera film processed and be able to see the results of our photography work. Fortunately with today's technology those days of waiting are over. Todays digital cameras not only give us instant gratification but better photos and the ability to manipulate our photos through the use of photo editing software. With the changes in photography people are no longer dependent on professional photographers to capture those special moments in their lives.

If you are in the market to purchase a digital camera you may become overwhelmed by the choices you face; there are hundreds of cameras which fit every budget. There is a common misconception that only expensive items are of good quality; however, when purchasing a digital camera you can toss this notion out the window. It is easy to find a quality inexpensive camera with features that will meet every need.

Inexpensive cameras are ideal for most everyones needs. All of the major, name brand manufacturers, including Fuji, Kodak, Samsung, Olympus, Nikon and HP, market digital cameras at reasonable prices. When digital cameras were first on the market you were faced with spending enormous amounts of money, thankfully today you can find a camera under $100 that has all the features you are looking for including 5 mega pixels and a great zoom lens. Most cameras are compact and can be carried with you anywhere so you can take great pictures no matter where you are.

If you have a more constrained budget you can find cameras with anywhere from 3.1 to 5 mega pixels for under $50. You will find that the features on these cameras are a bit more limited, with a smaller zoom range, yet they are ideal for typical personal use.

To get the most bang for your buck I advise that you do some Internet research, learning the terminology that you will see when looking for your camera. Understanding the terms and knowing exactly what you would like to have will help narrow down your search. Even though there are some incredible opportunities on the Internet, if you don't know exactly what it is you are looking for you will have a very difficult time finding the best camera for you.

If you would like to have more than a point and shoot camera you will be looking at cameras in the $100 to $200 range. Cameras in this price range have an incredible amount of features and are perfect if you would like to take professional quality photos. Cameras in this range are generally small enough to take wherever you wish to go to get incredible, spur of the moment, photos.

In fact, most cameras on the market today are incredibly compact, generally small enough to be slipped into the pocket. Most of these cameras have 8 to 10 mega pixels which will create quality prints in the 4x6 - 8x10 range. When you do your research you will learn that the higher the mega pixel rating the larger the print you will be able to make, as well as the better the overall quality of the photo. Some of the manufacturers that you will want to look for include Konica, Minolta, Nikon, Sony and Olympus. Features to expect include optical zoom, multi scene, LCD and a few other useful functions.

For a more professional camera you can spend more than $200; in this price range you will find 12 mega pixels, image stabilization high resolution sensors and an ultra compact body. It is even possible to find basic SLR cameras at this price range, allowing you to change out lenses. Even though SLR cameras are bulkier you are definitely moving out of the point and shoot range to the professional arena. In this price range you can also purchase ultra compact cameras. These are typically the size of a credit card and 1" thick. The nice thing about these cameras is that even though these cameras are thin they still contain the advanced features such as digital zoom and LCD.

Research is key to finding the best deal. The Internet is the worlds largest library and here you can not only find discounts but stay abreast of the latest innovations in digital cameras. Prior to purchasing you definitely want to make some price comparisons and there are a variety of sites that allow you to do this.

Figure out what your ideal digital camera would include then search the Internet for it, always looking for the best deal.
