www.clickherephotographytips.com The Fuji G617 Panoramic camera is an absolute pleasure to own and to use, although it does have a few teething problems This camera was first developed in Japan by the Fuji Photo Film Company in 1982 and has the ability to take print or transparency film images at a size of 6cm x 17cm which look amazing on a light table and much better when you see a print hanging on your wall. The camera accepts film that is generally used in Medium Format cameras like Hasselblad, Rollei etc and is a larger sized film than the traditional 35mm film that many photographers were using before the invention of digital photography. I do not feel that digital photography will result in the demise of film photography, at least not for sometime Moving On The camera accepts two sized of film, actually the height of the film remains the same, it is actually the number of photographs available that really makes the difference. For example, on a roll of 120 sized film as a photographer you are limited to four shots per roll, and; on a roll of 220 film you are limited to eight shots per roll. To purchase this camera new can be expensive, film is expensive to purchase and so are costs involved in processing and printing. But, for some reason I keep coming back to this camera mainly as a result of the quality of the images. Advances in Digital Photography
In the last 20 years there have been tremendous advances in technology and digital photography is one of the most popular advances. Until the invention of digital technology, conventional cameras used film to create images which could be made visible by photographic processing, a process which uses special techniques and chemicals to create a picture.
Digital images can be displayed, printed, stored, and edited with photo editing software such as Photoshop or other high-end professional software. They then can be transmitted and archived using digital and computer techniques, without elaborate and messy chemical processing. The best thing about digital photography is that you can see the photos instantly and they look much better than the old Polaroid instant cameras that you had to use the expensive film for.
There are also a number of similarities between digital photography and conventional photography; digital cameras and conventional cameras are actually quite alike in the way that they take pictures. Just like a conventional camera, a digital camera has a series of lenses that focus light to create an image of a scene. However, instead of focusing this light onto a piece of film, a digital camera focuses it onto a semiconductor device that records light electronically. A computer then breaks this electronic information down into digital data.
Understanding the Differences
To understand the difference between the two photographic processes, you need to consider the type of medium which the photographic images were imprinted onto. The physical and chemical characteristics are quite different between the pre-digital cameras, and the cameras of today.
Let's say you want to take a picture of yourself and post it on your MySpace or FaceBook page or you may just want to e-mail it to a friend. In order to do this, the image needs to be represented in the language that computers recognize -- bits and bytes. If you want to get a picture into this form, you have two options:
* Conventional Photography -You can take a photograph using a conventional camera, have the film processed chemically, print it onto photographic paper and then use a digital scanner to scan the picture. While some photographers argue that conventional photography takes a different "quality" of photo, and opinions differ whether that is good or bad - this method still requires a number of additional steps.
* Digital Photography –You can take your photo using a digital camera, transfer it to your computer via a USB cord or other means, view your picture, make edits with Photoshop tips; remove red eye, lose a few years, etc. and then upload your photo to your social networking page or your email and it is instantly visible.
See how complicated your life would be if digital photography hadn’t been invented? This is why digital photography has become so popular; you can even take a picture with most cell phones. Conventional film photography still provides better picture quality, so digital cameras have not completely replaced conventional cameras. As digital imaging technology improved, digital cameras have rapidly become more popular. They are a standard in most households today. Optio Digital Cameras were created for both new camera users and photo enthusiasts. These cameras are easy-to-use yet contain highly sophisticated and advanced features. They contain a variety of user-friendly features as well as loads of image-enhancing options. Not only are these cameras rich in features, they are fun to use as well. Below are more detailed specifications that are included in this group of cameras.
The Optio Digital Cameras come with a range of 2.0-6.0 megapixels resolutions. These cameras have a 1/ 2.5 inch interline transfer CCD. Most of the cameras contain a LCD monitor which is usually a TFT 1.8 inch color screen with 100% LCD resolution and a screen resolution of about 130,000 pixels. There are a variety of picture modes available such as landscape, portrait, sports, night scene and many more. There are built in language settings including English, Spanish, German, Italian, Dutch, Russian, French and Swedish. These cameras work with standard USB ports to connect to your computer operating any Windows Vista, 2000, XP, Me, 98, 98SE system.
The other type of camera that Pentax has created is the Pentax *ist. These cameras are geared for more professional photographer and marked the company’s entry into the digital SLR market. A few of the features found in this category include 6.1 megapixels resolutions, an APS format sensor and 2.5 inch LCD display with 210,000 pixels resolutions. The Pentax *ist cameras have a built in ISO setting up to 3200. The digital storage format of these cameras also includes the RAW file format along with the JPEG and TIFF formats.
The available white balancing modes include auto, cloudy, daylight, shade, fluorescent light, tungsten light and manual setting. As with most digital cameras the storage media is SD card. You can also check the depth of field prior to taking the photo. LCD options include slide show, digital filter and image rotation capabilities. You can also choose whether to delete a single photo or to delete all the photos. As I mentioned above, these cameras are geared more to the needs of advanced digital camera users or amateur enthusiasts.
