Kris Allen – “Live Like We’re Dying” – Live @ Memphis Smoke in Royal Oak, Michigan

Wednesday, May 12th, 2010. Tonight, American Idol Season 8 Winner Kris Allen played a private show for radio station 96.3 WDVD in Royal Oak, Michigan. (A suburb of Detroit.) I literally live down the street and was like WHAT KRIS ALLEN IS DOWN THE STREET FROM MY HOUSE!?!?!?!?!? when I found out. The event was not advertised and wasn't announced to the public until about 6:45pm and it started at 8pm! I went because there was supposed to be a "standby" line since a large turnout was expected. I found out later that tickets were given out last week to those who donated to a fundraiser that 96.3 sponsored for the Children's Miracle Network. (Forgive me if that's not the correct title of the charity.) However, it was not advertised that if you donated to the event last week that you would get free passes for a tiny, private Kris Allen performance. He did an acoustic set and performed 10-12 songs, including Live Like We're Dying, Heartless, Man In The Mirror, The Truth, that song from the movie "Once" that Lee and Crystal sang on Idol last night... and more. He even sang Happy Birthday to a girl who turned 16 today! Amazing! Had I known in advance about this event I would have had my good video camera's battery charged. But I didn't know so I didn't take too much video. Some of the videos I'm uploading are from my good Sony video camera and two of them are from my Fuji digital camera which takes better pictures, but not better video.
