Nikon Coolpix Digital Cameras – They Just Keep Getting Better
If you're in the market for a Nikon digital camera the choices and options can be somewhat overwhelming, so here's a good place to start. In this article we are going to discuss the Nikon Coolpix range. After reading, you should have a better idea of what distinguishes the Coolpix cameras from others, so that you can go shopping with more confidence.
Basically, the Nikon Coolpix range can be divided into three main categories, each with their own price range. First we look at the "P" series, where "P" stands for "Performance". This is the high end of the market where you are looking at the $400 - $500 range. But you get what you pay for, including high 8 - 10 megapixel definition and added features such as vibration reduction, built in Wi-fi for cordless remote operation and image stabilization.
These are nice cameras and their focus is on reducing human error and producing high quality images. In other words - performance.
Next we have the "S" series - where "S" stands for "Style". If you're looking for a camera with a visual appeal but one which still has some performance edge, then this is where to go. You get a lower megapixel resolution - about 6 - 7 mpx but on some models can zoom up to 10x. Not the same versatility and functionality as your "P" series but the price reflects that, at around $250 - $350, usually depending on zoom features.
Finally, we have what we might call the "Learner" or "L" series cameras. They are much cheaper at around $120 - $250 so if it's a bargain you're after, but still want ease of use and quality, then the "L" series is probably for you. The price differences usually have to do with megapixels and the size of the LCD display screen.
One of the favourite features sought in any modern camera is its zoom quality. Being able to shoot from a distance can be a great advantage. We're not just talking 'number of times' here, but the sharpness of focus and quality of image when maximum zoom is in play. The Nikon Coolpix range boasts a superior image quality, not only in terms of sharpness but also of colours and exposure.
We shouldn't bring this review to a conclusion without mentioning the add-on accessories that are available to the coolpix range. Whether it's cables and chargers, lens caps, CD-ROM viewers or camera straps you need, you'll find an attractive selection available for most models.
The bottom line is, that the Nikon Coolpix range of cameras is not one of the most popular on the market for no reason. For all the popular features you love, the price you pay is good value for money.
Just bought a 2nd hand Fuji Finepix digital camera. What does Frame Numbering (Continuous, Renew) mean?
All I got was the camera, no manual with it or anything, but one of the shooting options is called Frame Numbering and you can choose from Continuous or Renew. Does anyone know what this means?
