The Best 35mm Camera
Many of you would surely want to keep old and happy memories captured on film. At least when you have digital and hard copies of these unforgettable moments, you can always review them every now and then and show them to your children and grandchildren later on as you share with them the story behind those images.
If you're fond of using film and slides, it would benefit you greatly to get your own dedicated 35mm slide scanner. But this leads you to the next question which is, "What brand shall I buy?"
Various brands, types and models of slide scanners are on the market today. Basically, there are two types - the multi-purpose flatbed scanner and the dedicated 35mm slide scanner. Whereas a dedicated slide scanner is meant for slides and films only.
Brands you can choose include Polaroid, Epson, Nikon, HP, Kodak, Microtek, Minolta, Leaf and Olympus. Different models are available with prices from the mid-range to the high end depending on your needs. It won't help that you factor in just one aspect such as the price or brand. Keep in mind not to sacrifice quality over price because that is not a good way to get the most ideal product for you.
But if you're in the printing and publishing business which will require you to scan big volumes of films and slides, then investing in a high-end scanner is the right choice. Higher resolution means high quality images so don't take this aspect for granted.
You will need to install it on your computer before you can use your dedicated scanner.
Find out which suits you best and shop around on the internet before deciding on what and where to purchase.
Nikon CoolScan has a range of models (2000, 4000, 5000) which have received good reviews. The SuperCoolScan model is highly recommended because of its high optical density.
It has accurate and sharp color and shadow details. There's also the Konica Minolta QuickScan which is a dedicated film and slide scanner.
Hewlett Packard has its flatbed Scanjet, an all in one scanner. It scans not only films and slides but documents as well.
Epson and Microtek also manufacture flatbed scanners in various models, sizes and prices.
Remember that the main advantage of a dedicated scanner is its small and compact size and light weight. The flatbed type is larger in size and carries more weight. So be sure to consider these things as well.
