  1. The la-ea1 and la-ea2 adapters allow you to put all A mount lenses onto a e-mount system. These lenses could be Sony, Tamron and Tokina just to name a few. The la-ea2 adapter gives you full auto focus plus aperture control. The la-ea1 only allows you to modify the aperture, this means all focusing has to be done manually.

  2. I’m truly excited for the NEX-7, I want an all in one system, it would be nice to see a good good pancake lens from sony, the M43 system has some fantastic ones. I can’t wait to see the images from some of my zeiss glass on the nex 7, I’m not as excited for the 5n mostly because I’m thinking in terms of all in one.

  3. But why sould i buy an LA-EA2 if an LA-EA1 also fit? doesnt really matter what one… cause both have the e to a thing…. (

  4. yes, he said LA-EA2, hihihihihih sorry folks

  5. ow got it! its the same adpater like the Sony LA-EA1 adapter, but with more preformance right?

  6. What is that on 0:36 ?? never seen that before…. is it a kind of mirror?

  7. do you have the cameras on hand? does the nex-7 suffer from clicking noises and overheating in video mode like the 5n?
the 5n issues has gotten me a bit worried.

    Thanks for your efforts.

Does the NEX-5N also benefit from the lenses adapter?? According to the following it does.

“Price and Availability: The Sony NEX-5N …….. The FDA-EV1S OLED electronic viewfinder accessory will be priced at around US$350, and the LA-EA2 Alpha mount adapter with phase-detection autofocus capability will cost about US$400. Both accessories have planned availability from November 2011.”

  10. NEX 7 looks more solid.

  11. @androiddindang – Yes, it should be. Same sensor as the Nikon D7000. From what I’ve seen of a77 samples, it’s not as good at high ISO so the same would hold true for the NEX-7. This was to be expected as 24MP is getting pretty high resolution for an APS-C sensor.

  12. @bludebkk – I don’t see a direct reference to that, but my guess is it does as the a77 does.

  13. d300 vsa65

  14. I am very interested in NEX7. Do you know if it has manual video mode? If it does, I’m sold.

  15. What price do you think will be reasonable for the feature that it comes with (after-all, price is an important factor to consider for average a consumer like me)

  16. I would be interested in your comments regarding a comparison of the NEX 7 and the A77. I am leaning towards the A77 beasue of the weatherproofing and “robustness” but the NEX 7 is still a very temptong package.
Keep up the great work Matt.
    Cheers

  17. @ArtoftheImage
Thanks for taking the time to reply Matt.

  18. @FrodoDojo I use Lightroom because I believe it’s the best RAW processor out there. I shoot RAW. :-)

  19. @Ryanct2 Nope… don’t need to, but I do like my toys. :-)

  20. My concern is the bang for the buck ratio. I’m looking at the Panasonic G3, which is $700 for the whole kit vs $1,400 for the NEX-7. Micro four-thirds (overall) has a larger lens portfolio, especially when compared to the E-mount. From what I’ve seen e-mount lenses have the smallest catalog. Regarding the adapter? The concern I have on that is additional weight placed on the overall system, which would make it harder to hold. That body looks positively puny compared to those large A-mounts.

  21. You gave the Alpha lens adaptor as a reason to go for the NEX-7 over the 5N, while the TV over your shoulder showed the same adaptor being used on the 5N.

  22. My thoughts are for you to do A65 Vs. NEX-7.

  23. Why the great disparity between Sony and the more established players like Canon and Nikon in terms of body design?

  24. Matt, do you recommend Leica cameras? I’m thinking of getting the D-lux 5.

  25. Comes with the world’s slowest lens at F5.6.
    Flash is not included.
Can not do TETHERED! That’s a big mistakes, Sony.
Video works only in P modes.
    Still heating problems.

    They want $1,400.00USD.
