NEX-5 and NEX-3 ultra compact digital cameras by Sony
A video trailer of the new ultra compact digital cameras from Sony: the NEX-5 and NEX-3. The new digital cameras deliver DSLR performance within a sleek compact body, using a 14.2 megapixel Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor and interchangeable lenses. For the first time in an a camera, the practicality of an ultra compact digital camera is combined with AVCHD video recording for capturing high quality Full HD movies on the go. With a simple user interface and intuitive controls, capturing DSLR quality pictures has never been easier or more stylish. Plus Sweep Panorama mode allows you to capture amazing wide-angle panoramas with ease (and even in 3D). The NEX-5 and NEX-3 digital cameras will be available from summer 2010, and further information can be found at: www.sony.co.uk

Is this a good camera?

@thegreenpikmin nex 3 the nex 5 is only better because it shoots in 1080p video and the grip is bigger but the video on the nex 3 is still hd at 720p so unless you really care about VIDEO qaulity just get the nex 3

I am planning on asking for this for my birthday as my first DSLR camera, and I would like to know what 3D capabilities it has as it says ’3D Ready’

Hey guys, should I get the nex 3 or save up for the 5? I want a small compact Dale camera that can shoot great video and pics. So I wanna ask Qs, 1st, can both cameras connect to a wireless remote, is it worth the upgrade between the two, and would the nex 3 be just fine for hd video for after effects, final cut and etc.

February 4th, 2011 - 17:41
@SONYUK is there any kind of adapter or something that I can buy so I can use the 88 15 with a fish eye? Thanks!
February 4th, 2011 - 17:59
@88t3mpt4tions Thanks for your query, you can buy a Sony NEX Fish-eye converter (VCL-ECF1), which has to be attached to the 16mm ‘pancake’ lens (SEL16F28) to increase your field of view. Please be aware the the fish-eye converter is NOT compatible with the standard zoom lens SEL1855.
February 4th, 2011 - 18:38
@dcrinz Hi there, the ‘pancake’ 16mm is a wide angle rather than zoom lens, which means it’s great for landscape photography, getting wide panoramic shots, city landscapes, or even group shots indoors. The zoom lenses start at 18-55mm is a multifunctional lens from wide angle to short telephoto and can cover most of subjects and better for close-up and portraits than the 16mm.

February 4th, 2011 - 21:54
@ah57lb there are ways to pull audio tracks off of YouTube Videos, google it
February 4th, 2011 - 22:18
@spongebob537 only option as of NOV-2010 is an 18-200…..at $700. sold out. ebay prices are higher. Firmware v.3 finally allows the use of A-mount with focus motors to auto focus. however the E to A Mount cost $200
February 4th, 2011 - 22:48
@LOVEMiruku @SonyEurope the 16mm lens gets you a TINY bit wider of an angle and better low light performance due to the larger aperture of f/2.8, however you would have to move closer to the subject you are photographing since there is no zoom. I would suggest you start off with the 18-55mm.

I’m so getting it!
February 4th, 2011 - 23:25
@IzyStoned Thanks for your query, there will indeed! Sony just previewed the prototypes of seven new NEX-compatible E-mount lenses at this year’s Photokina trade show and they are due to be released during 2011 and 2012.

@ah57lb Thanks for your query, as the music is original and was made specifically for this video, it isn’t possible to download.
February 5th, 2011 - 02:02
@SonyEurope is it possible to down load this song?
February 5th, 2011 - 02:48
What’s the name of the song , and is it possible to down load it?

I hate the noisy shutter on this camera … impossible to use when doing candid street work while trying to remain unobtrusive. It was a deal breaker for me……
