0:43 He says ”K7D”…Perhaps he got confused with the Canon EOS 7D or the Pentax K20D!

@crispycritterz well in feature yes… i really dont like nikon but in reality, compare image quality from pentax with canon and nikon, then pentex would lost the competition, and i own a 7d

i think that the k-7 turned fashionably too late…..
it might have 14.6 megapixel, but if you compare the image quality with canon and nikon, then pentax would lost the competition. I have a 7d though……..

I’m new to Digital SLR’s and have refined my search down to a possible 3:Pentax K-7,Canon 550 D and Nikon D90.I’m leaning to the K7,but have been told the Nikon has better picture quality.I’m wanting an every day camera with pictures straight off the camera,not pictures that i have to photo shop.As this buy will possibly be “it”,i want the best out of these three.I know they all have their own particular qualities and would appreciate ppl’s input.
Thanks

Not really trying to tell you how to do your job, but I think that you should spend less time on your face, and more on the camera.

@threefourninetyfour
Although obviously you can get a Battery grip for it that’ll take AAs

The K7 is a superb camera, I part-exchanged my K10 for the K7 in January and it’s so much better. The problem Pentax has is it’s marketing/commercial dept. is absolute rubbish compared to Canon/Nikon e.g. I saw loads of adverts on the tv for Canon & Nikon cameras during the World Cup but I don’t think I have ever seen an advert for a Pentax camera on tv, let alone the K7. I’ve got some videos on my Uploads page taken using the K7 and the quality the camera produces is second to none.

@threefourninetyfour . Rechargeable Li-Ion. Not AAs.
November 6th, 2011 - 09:18
Does it have a rechargable battery or does it take AAs?
November 6th, 2011 - 09:32

November 6th, 2011 - 10:13

You only need to press the green button to meter COMPLETELY MANUAL, OLD LENSES. And guess what? All of those old lenses that you have to press a button to meter for (who cares??) are automatically stabilized by over 2 stops with Pentax’s IS. Unlike Canon, with whom if you want a sturdy lens, you’ll pay top dollar. Read the manual and get over yourself.
Btw, I know people who operate their K-7′s in blizzards without a problem, something that a Canikon with that price tag cannot match.
November 6th, 2011 - 12:41
I don’t see what’s wrong with Pentax’s menu system. Basic menus just mean less decisions to make and sub-menus to file through, which makes for faster shooting.
November 6th, 2011 - 12:45
Every system and control on my K 7 is adjustable if you want..EVERYTHING…Except….video Iso… In jpeg i notice my cam has more noise than a d7….. less noise than a d5…The gaskets are for weatherablity…this is field camera with no equal…shooting snowboarders 2 days ago… a d7 failed because of extreme moisture and temp…. that and every lens since 1975 made by Pentax fits on this ..D7′ is better vid quality..but it’s also twice the price..vintage lens’s r manualFast andcheap

I find the ‘discussion’ pointless. there is a sleep mode which you can adjust. but it has nothing to do with the meter. the meter goes on until the sleep mode activates again. modern meters are no big battery-eaters. I’m just sorry I spent so many letters on what? on a cheap plastic cropped outdated piece of junk. let’s discuss rz67ii meter =) does it give you idea of shutter speed in ae?
November 6th, 2011 - 13:01
I dunno who the fool is but I know needs to work on his manners.
So, you’re telling me that if your camera is around your neck in the on position on manual, it will be metering all day until the battery dies? It has no automatic sleep mode even?
Of course it is a continuous meter reading, it’s initiated by a half-way press of the shutter release here. What happens if you are in manual mode and look through the viewfinder for, a minute, without touching any buttons? Will it still be metering?
November 6th, 2011 - 13:13
hmm then why do I get continuous meter reading without having to press buttons on my canons?
the exposure slider moves by itself in M mode or the shutter speed sets by itself in Av mode. so who’s the fool here?
November 6th, 2011 - 13:26
No, you don’t. You misunderstood what the guy said. Like every SLR with a built in meter I have ever used, you take a reading by pressing the shutter half-way. The “green button” just sets the aperture and shutter speed automatically to give you a starting point, which can be useful in some circumstances but I have never used.
And sealing is the one reason I went Pentax to start with, I personally shoot primarily in quite hostile environments.

Who the fuck was that?
