Lightning over Basingstoke, UK 26/07/06

Shot using a crappy Pentax digital camera on video mode at 320 x 200. Most of the crappy bits are edited out and its about 4:30 of lighning and slow mo shots. Still, beautiful to watch and it's natures free light show!

  5. nice bit of info, thanks.

  6. the reason that there was no, or very little thunder is that the majority of the lightning was anvil crawler lightning, this lightning originates right at the top of the storm cloud. This type of lightning is more common in decaying storms, but is mostly too far away to hear. The frequency of the strikes in this video is quite rare in this part of the world, good work.

  7. pure luck. Had another storm recently, did the same thing and got nothing !

  8. wow.thats incredible.good idea gettin the camera out.

  15. One of the strange aspects of this storm was that the quiete rumbling you can hear in the background IS the storm. The storm audio track has not been muted and it was one of the quietest lightning storms I have ever seen.

  16. omg i never ne wthat my bro in law lives in bstoke x

  17. Nice video but would be better without the music if you left out the music then one would be able to hear the storm better.

  18. This was recorded smack on top of Brighton Hill, Stanford Road. It was recorded from an upstairs Window (you can just see my hand occasionally pop in to stop the camera getting wet) The storm lasted a little over one hour, as it came towards the hill it split and went around and over the hill. If you watch you can see the lightning appearing above, below, left and right. We were surrounded by lightning!

  19. i live near purbrook just outside pompey i remember the day this happened it rolled south to north hit us 1st was mad

  20. i’m from popley lol..i remember this storm

  22. Wow! Where do u live it wasn’t like that is Popley? I know Rooksdown was really bad and Winklebury!

  23. I watched this storm from Crabtree, I believe, standing on a bench. Was fucking awesome, red and blue and purple lightning everywhere. Then it started to rain so we ran into the woods. During the lightning storm. We’re clever like that, you see.

  24. Awsome! I live in basingstoke too. I watched this storm with my mates. Nice edit! I don’t suppose you’re in Popley are you? That’s pretty impressive for basingstoke :)
