Dead Space Movie

Based on the hugely popular Dead Space game. A solo project of mine starring, filmed, edited by myself. Notes: Half an Hour filming I used a pentax digital photo camera to film to get the grainy and gritty look. The filming and edit took 2 hours *Update* This video earned me a trip to Sydney: somewhatawesomefilms.com

  1. Looks really cool. Nice work.

  2. @FRANKYMOOK Depends what your rendering it out to, if your not changing settings when you put the comp in th render tab it will do that. I usually choose to render it as .mov with h264 compression.

  3. @asskicker49 oh cool, maybe you can help me. Im a noob at after effects, everything I render comes out choppy and with no sound.I have enough ram and a good processor so thats not the problem. What is my dumb ass doing wrong?

  4. @FRANKYMOOK All done in adobe after effects :)

  5. @asskicker49 what program did you use for the effects? It looks great.

  6. @asskicker49 Well im going to subscribe just incase you do.

  7. The setting and nerf guns were quite off-putting. But still quite good, if you were to do it in a different location, and with some more authentic looking weapons it would be perfect.

  8. @asskicker49 your welcome, and i am surprised that it doesn’t have as many views as it should.

  9. @jackofblades94 I agree but at the same time disagree for this video. :P The whole purpose of this was for a comp which I won. Lol had I done this more seriously then maybe..

  10. try not to do it on your house, like next time try to do it on a mall or another building, or maybe just outside your house.

  11. noob lol

  12. @luna13740 Thanks! I noticed the tracking after I uploaded it was really just a muck around video accidently found its way to EA.. had i’d known i’d definately have fixed the tiny stuff. :) But as long as your sitll enjoy it :D

  13. @TheLegostarwars00 Thanks!

  14. epic! :)

  15. Great that was good. Except the tracking of your blood and laser thing was a little off,
but outer then that it was a Masterpiece

  16. @asskicker49 are you the Rob Hardy that writes the music for brettsk8?

  17. lol not bad :)

  18. Best fan movie I’ve ever seen :D

Where did you get those awesome sound effects? (like the one at 0:37 )

you would help me very much. Thanks =)

  19. @2100wdan Thanks! Ha I love that reaction, it means I did something right :D

  20. man, great job on the video, I jumped lol : )

  21. @BatmanClue Awesome can’t wait to see it!

  22. @asskicker49 It worked thanks man :D

  23. @BatmanClue Don’t know any tutes that show it. Its really simple to do.

Step 1 Make a new comp
Step 2 add a solid with the colour you want such as blue etc
Step 3 Put your audio that you want the soundwave to be in the comp, add an effect – generate- audio waveform to that sound.
Step 4 Now put that entire comp you just made into the video your making.
Step 5 Put the transparency of your audio comp down.
Step 6 Line it up with your video.

Thats as easy as I can explain it.

  24. @asskicker49 The fog worked :)
But the static thing is kinda hard, can“t you send me a link of a possible tutorial?

  25. @BatmanClue The smoke on the ground is just fog stock footage colour corrected to match the scene. The static thingo is a seperate comp with an audio waveform, a solid masked into a rounded rectangle. Then another solid ontop of that with several masks that run the width of the comp to create the lines across it then the whole comp tinted blue. Then the opacity is dropped down using a wiggle expression. Turn it into a 3d layer and place it in 3d space to fit the scene. Hoep that helps
