Concerning the Panasonic digital video camera HDC-SD1; is it possible to film in a non-HD format?
and would it be possible to read and edit on macintoch ( apple ) ?

It seems to have a SD mode (the specs I looked at called it HE as opposed to HF and HN, but they were in Turkish PAL).
I believe, however iMovie imports in HD and can convert to SD for final rendering.

iMovie HD supports these types of video formats
DV
DV Widescreen
HDV 1080i (25 and 30 fps)
HDV 720p (25 and 30 fps)
MPEG 4 Simple Profile
iSight
If you want to edit footage on a Mac, I suggest you look for a video camera that records on one of the formats iMovie supports, the camera your asking about doesn’t.
