It seems like thats more work because it opens a menu that you then have to go in and select ISO sensitivity. The back button all you have to do is hold is and rotate the dial. Maybe the location sucks, but it’s way faster.
@ArtoftheImage i agree that the best way would be a dedicated ISO button. as far as the fuction button goes, i think its a matter of prefrence so whatever you like, i think i changed mine 3 times already.
@TheScaryfluff – You know, the more I play with the D7000 with the ISO button assigned to the function button, the more I think you’re right. I think I’ll just stick with using the one on the back beside the LCD. Still wish NIkon had put one up top.
What’s way more useful is having the ISO set to be the OTHER dial. So if you are in A mode, the one dial will control apeture, and the other will control ISO.
this is silly! it simply makes it longer. i have a d7000 and have no problem pressing the iso and spinning the ring. and its all there up top without having to light up the lcd at all.
Do you know how can we suggest or request Nikon a better solution for changing ISO with one hand (same used for changing Aperture and shutter speed) ??
Damn, I was hoping for a way to really assign the fn-button to work as an ISO button. My camera is actually already set up like this.
Another way to easily change the ISO setting on the D7K (and others) is to enable “Easy ISO” (setting d3). This puts ISO permanently on the unused wheel in A/S mode. Doesn’t work for M mode though…
Not having an ISO button I can reach one handed is one of the few things I really dislike about the D7000.
@ArtoftheImage Hmm you know, if I signed that function button to ISO settings, I wonder if I can still change the ISO using the dial and the top lcd, then I could just change the iso with one hand, can be useful when you are using the view finder.
@nerwin – Whatever works best for you. Myself and a lot of other people don’t like the ISO button being located on the back of the camera beside the LCD so this is a work-around to give us an option.
Where the ISO button is located doesn’t bother me at all.. works well for me actually. But I hold the ISO button and I change my ISO using the dial on the back and the top lcd. I think it’s faster than your way.

@NathanCharrois – The more I use both methods, the more I agree with you.

@TheScaryfluff – No, the best way would be if Nikon had put a dedicated ISO button up top like on the D700.

@LiquidTurbo – I don’t think you can do that in M mode (manual) which is what I shoot in 90% of the time.

@MattBallardPhoto are you serious? you think the best way to change your ISO is on the LCD on the back like he is doing there?

@TheScaryfluff – No it’s not, unless maybe you’re shooting in aperture or shutter priority. Certainly isn’t in manual mode.
