@squeakstore it has to do with the filing system on your memory card. FAT32. It has a limit, and has to be stopped and started every now and then (5 minutes)

24 FPS is film. 25p/50i is PAL. 30p/60i is NTSC.

@ASPCAfan actually the camera will only let you record up to five minutes at a time in hd mode. I’m not sure why though…

@WarehouseExpressWEX actually the quality is much higher but he converted the video pretty bad or something

If you use say, an 8GB or 16GB SDHC card, it will record WAYY more than 5 mins of video like you said in the description…………

@mohosin06,
I have this camera, and to un-focus the background (create shallow depth of field) you have to open the iris all the way, zoom in all the way, and stand back. Look at the video clip on my YouTube page to see how it looks. The video is called: “Music Video Nikon D5000 clip”

November 27th, 2010 - 11:57
@kamshaft83 well i’m still way off from being able to get a new camera anyway. i just wnna be able to do like an hour or so video for the website i’m starting up.
November 27th, 2010 - 12:37
@vicooo01 ya cuz its more of a better quality camera, not a video camera. ya my camera i got 3 years ago, records video until its full, but quality of images suck compared to d5000 cuz its not as sophisticated materials inside it.
November 27th, 2010 - 12:52
@twistedkatana1 ya cuz the the dslr i would think has a bit more to it, recording long hd video was said to dmg the sensor or something in a dslr camera. its really made for pictures, or else y not just get a video camera. plus half the time when u make a video, ur gonna edit before the 5 min mark. and u can just the rec button 2xs fast and rarely miss anything
November 27th, 2010 - 13:22
@TonyMainProduction ya cuz its really made for still shots, but they threw in the video hd. its supposedly said the reason its 5 mins is cuz long recording ona camera can dmg the camera sensor or soemthing like that. being y u cant/should try using it as a webcam
