Im planning to buy this1 and i’d recommend checking some professional reviews, or just visit the panasonic home page and look at reviews there.
To answer your question, ya sure, videos work just fine to!
i had the olympus stylus(lost it when i moved) and now i have the lumix, and to be honest, the stylus is better in many ways, like the fact that nothing covers the lens when the lumix is on, and when you are out adventureing and require a water shock proof camera, it is rather dangerous. if your looking for a good rugged camera, get the newest olympus.

The whole right side on mine is soft and in spite of proof Panasonic will not do anything about it, they say it looks fine to them. Not a good company or product IMO. Not worth going to court over a $500 camera.
i have a question. in HD record movie mode my cam records in some kind of format that is called m2ts. i cant open this file type with any other programe then the software that is supply with the camera. what can i do about this to make this file type more useable? can i change it?
cheers
I’m impressed with the video on my DMC-TS1 but very disappointed in the quality of the still images. I feel reviewers are downplaying the significant image issues on account of the ruggedization feature, but to me the still images are not good at all. Specifically the entire right hand side is soft, and the image is hugely noisy.
yes, it does zoom during video recording. Note the zoom is a slider and not press buttons. I bought the camera yesterday and its great… AND won a bonus Viera HD LCD tv from Panasonic Australia website!!! competitions still going for those in Oz
While this camera does all the things mentioned in the video there is no way that this can be called a review.
Piecing together a rolling commentary from press releases, some of which only apply to certain countries, and adding an Amazon link for affiliate kick-back give me the impression that this is no more than an advert.
I would to ask anyone who owns this beautiful TS1 camera, does it allow to use the optical zoom during video recording?
thanks to everyone who post their videos. I really like this camera.
Yes technology has really advanced in a tremendous way and it appears that lumix is at the forefront of it. Thanks for taking the time to comment have a Great Day!
Yes this camera is revolutionary I am glad you liked it.
It is one of those peices of technology which many will love. Panasonic has really taken it to the next level
I am glad I stumbled across this video I had know idea that technology had advanced so much I definitely am going to get this camera it’s amazing. wow the possibilities!

Noise is a fact of life with all ruggedized cameras. If the whole side is soft, warranty it.

Where’s the review? You just read the specs straight off the sheet. Have you actually used the camera?
