Review: CASIO G-SHOCK GWM5600BC-1 digital watch
Bear with me, I'm still experimenting with the video medium. My videos are probably going to suck for awhile. Please enjoy this way-too-long review of my new CASIO GWM5600BC-1 wristwatch. Official page: www.casio.com Notes: After much deliberation, and having gone through several hundred watch designs I finally settled for the best watch relative to current market offerings. If the rechargeable battery is worth anything at all, this should be the last watch I ever buy. At $200 it's not cheap, but the feature list is quite extensive, so I personally at least was able to justify the price. Original watch selection criteria: #1 Solar power #2 Atomic world time #3 EL option #4 High display legibility #5 Matrix LCD #6 Minimal interface #7 Minimal modes #8 Retro styling (1980 era preferred) Four out of eight, not bad right?

@shakin911 That was just the price when it was released, you can get them pretty cheap now, second hand. Probably for less than $100.

Yes but I was just correcting what you said at 1:30
June 6th, 2010 - 20:21
… Clearly the manual is technically correct. The maximum run time is approximately 8 months on a single charge, assuming that the EL is not used. I can confirm this from actual use of the product.
With EL used the battery will of course run down dramatically faster.

56 Hours of direct sunlight
208 hours of sunlight through a window
338 hours of daylight through a window on a cloudy day
The module will never reach a full state of charge with indoor fluorescent lighting alone.

“Frequent display illumination can run down the battery quickly and require charging. The following guidelines give an idea of the charging time required to recover from a SINGLE illumination operation. Approximatly 5 minutes exposure to bright sunlight coming in through a window.” So there is really now way 5 minutes of direct sunlight will charge it for 8 months.

I was just quoting the manual. And your post makes no sense. I’ve owned this watch for a year now and I live in an area that gets very little sun. With the auto EL turned off it easily lasts 8 months without any kind of intentional charging.
June 6th, 2010 - 22:52
5 minute of direct sunlight will give the watch 8 months of power.Thats wrong. 5 minutes of direct sunlight will give enough power for about 24 hours

Great review, I like the part with the digits explanation

I’ve noticed it only seems to work in one direction, and it’s not very sensitive. TBH I’ve turned it off a long time ago because it drains the battery.

Get a sweat band and wear it under your watch, but if your hand turns blue take it off right away!

Different watch. The BC signifies the reverse display, so sans BC probably means standard black on white.
