Dude …your a cool dude, I enjoyed your video, its the first detailed and an informative video of this camera. Your presentation is excellent, I love how you demonstrate the features and allow us to see your pictures from the camera. I am seriously thinking of getting this camera after having mixed feelings of the Nikon S550. Thanks again for your review, helped a lot.

The camera can’t record HD becase of the CCD sensor. I have a SX1 which does HD because of a CMOS sensor. The SX10 is the same camera but it only has a CCD wich is about 3-4 times slower. So it takes 3-4 times longer to get all the data from the sensor to proces it.

You should have bought the G10!
December 5th, 2010 - 14:29
no, if you want a better camera, get a digital reflex with a larger ccd sensor.
December 5th, 2010 - 14:34
Does dropping the resolution to 8 MP improve the image quality?
December 5th, 2010 - 14:54

Panasonic FZ18 fantastic for the price.

Sensor size actually did increase, but only a little bit, and definitely not enough. If only they had used this slightly larger sensor for 8 MP, then at least we would have got some minor improvement instead of a degradation in quality.

Spot-on review. I bought this camera and I fully agree with everything you said. Only one thing I can add, I even took a few shots at 80 ISO of some trees from a distance, and the leaves came out kind of smeared. I had a bunch of better shots too, fortunately, but the smearing and aggressive noise reduction (if that’s what it is) really spoils the fun a bit for me.

Chris get the Kodak Z1485 it’s a 14 Mega Pixel camera and will do HD videos.
December 5th, 2010 - 17:13
The shortcomings he mentioned (no RAW, no HD video) are par for the course for point and shoots. If you want raw, get a pro level p-n-s like the Canon G10 and if you want HD video, you´ll have to get the new Canon EOS 5D Mark II.
The overly ¨jpg¨ look he mentioned is most likely a result of the 10 MP sensor. Resolution increased, but sensor size didn´t, so there´s more noise and more processing is needed. My 8 MP EOS XT takes better pictures because of the bigger sensor and better lens.
